Complete Shot Making - Add New Shots to Your Game Without Losing the Ones You Have

Most adults avoid technical coaching for one reason: they're afraid it'll break what already works.

You've built a game over years. It's yours, it's reliable, and the last thing you want is a coach pulling it apart and leaving you worse than when you started. It's a completely rational fear - and it's exactly why our Complete Shot Making course is built the way it is.

This course doesn't recode your existing shots. It adds new ones. By the end you'll have new weapons in your arsenal - and, just as importantly, you'll understand the principles for adding new shots yourself in future.

Quick Summary

Complete Shot Making · Six-lesson course · One-to-one with an LTA qualified coach · Winchmore Hill, Southgate and Enfield

Complete Shot Making is our technical individual course. Over six lessons you'll add genuine new shots to your game - taught through sensation rather than technical instruction, so they develop naturally. Crucially, we add new shots rather than rebuilding the ones you already have. It pairs naturally with our Decision Making course, which teaches you how and when to use your new shots in real play.

We Add Shots - We Don't Rebuild Them

This is the most important thing to understand about the course.

Think of your different shots as pieces of software. Each one is a complete program - your forehand, your backhand, your volley. They run, they work, you rely on them.

When most people imagine technical coaching, they picture a coach going into that existing software and rewriting the code - which is risky, disorienting, and often leaves you playing worse for months. That's not what we do.

Instead, we add new software. New whole patterns. New shots and options that sit alongside what you've already got, without disturbing it. You keep everything that works, and you gain new tools on top.

This matters enormously, because the fear of having your game undone is exactly what stops so many people seeking coaching in the first place. On this course, that simply isn't what happens. You're adding to your game, not gambling it.

Taught Through Sensation, Not Instruction

Here's how we actually build a new shot - and it's quite different from traditional technical coaching.

Rather than giving you a list of technical checkpoints - racket back here, elbow there, follow through like this - we teach through sensation. We engage the cerebellum, the part of the brain that governs movement and coordination, by linking the *feel* of the contact to the full technical shot.

Take topspin as an example. If you'd never learned to use topspin before, we wouldn't start with a lecture on technique. We'd start with a sensation - a brush - and let you learn how the brush actually feels between the strings and the ball. Once you have that sensation, the rest follows naturally: you learn how to load your feet, where to prepare your racket, the racket speed, the racket path - all through a more natural, movement-based process rather than a series of disconnected technical instructions.

The shot develops as a whole, natural movement, built around a feel you can actually reproduce - rather than a stiff assembly of checkpoints you have to consciously remember mid-rally.

Coaching Through Sensations

Splitting Your Shots Into Sensations You Can Choose Between

There's a second benefit to the sensation approach.

As well as adding new shots, the course helps you split out the shots you already have into specific sensations you can understand, feel and choose between. Instead of your game being a merge of all shots blurring into one another, you develop a clear palette of distinct options - each with its own feel - that you can select deliberately depending on what the moment calls for.

That clarity is a big part of what separates a player who has shots from a player who can actually use them.

Built on Our Stages of Learning

The course follows our stages of learning framework, which is how we make sure a new shot actually sticks rather than falling apart the moment you try to use it.

A new skill moves through phases: learn, practise, train, and test. Each stage asks more of the shot than the last. We can't include the final stage - compete - within a lesson, because genuine competition requires a match that matters. But we have a very deliberate way of taking a new shot through those first four stages and setting you up to integrate it into real play.

The result is a shot that's genuinely part of your game, not a party trick that only works when you're thinking about it.

The Stages of Learning

What You'll Leave With

By the end of the six lessons, you'll have:

New shots in your arsenal - genuine new weapons and options

Clearer distinctions between the shots you already had, split into sensations you can choose between

The principles to add new shots yourself - so you're not dependent on coaching every time you want to develop something new

That last point is the one people don't expect. The course doesn't just give you shots - it teaches you how shots are built, so you can keep developing your game long after the six lessons are done.

Then Comes Decision Making

Adding a new shot is only half the job. The other half is knowing how and when to use it.

That's what our Decision Making course is for. Complete Shot Making gives you the new tools; Decision Making teaches you how to deploy them - reading the situation, choosing the right shot for the moment, and using your new weapons where they actually win points.

The two courses are designed to work together. There's no sense having a beautiful new topspin shot if you don't know when to play it - and equally, decision making is far more powerful once you have a fuller set of shots to decide between.

How It Fits With Our Other Individual Coaching

Complete Shot Making is one of our structured individual courses, delivered as a block of six lessons. Alongside it we offer:

Decision Making - a six-lesson course on how to use your shots in real play

Serve Mastery - a focused four-week course dedicated to the serve

Monthly direct debit individual lessons - ongoing weekly one-to-one coaching that naturally covers the ground of both the shot making and decision making courses over time

If you'd rather have regular ongoing lessons than a fixed block, the direct debit option covers all of this material as part of your weekly sessions.

Booking

You can book Complete Shot Making as a six-lesson block, with the same LTA qualified coaches who deliver our whole programme. Because individual lessons are scheduled around coach and court availability, we arrange these individually - submit an enquiry or give us a call and we'll set it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this course change the shots I already have?

No. That's the whole point. We add new shots alongside your existing ones rather than rebuilding what you've already got. You keep everything that works.

How long is the course?

Six lessons, one-to-one.

How do you teach a new shot?

Through sensation rather than technical checkpoints. We link the feel of the contact to the full shot, so it develops as a natural movement rather than a stiff set of positions to remember.

What will I be able to do at the end?

You'll have new shots in your game, a clearer sense of the shots you already had, and the principles to keep adding new shots yourself in future.

What's the difference between this and Decision Making?

Complete Shot Making gives you the new shots. Decision Making teaches you how and when to use them. They're designed to work together.

Do I have to do the course, or can I just have regular lessons?

Either. The course is a focused six-lesson block, but our ongoing monthly direct debit individual lessons cover the same material over time as part of your regular sessions.

Who coaches it?

The same LTA qualified coaches who deliver our whole programme.

How do I book?

Submit an enquiry or call us, and we'll arrange it around availability.
